Support your muscles, bones, balance, and independence—no gym required. A gentle home routine you can begin this week.

### After 50, strength isn’t about looking a certain way. It’s about staying able to do the things that make everyday life easier.

Carrying groceries, climbing stairs, getting out of a chair, and playing with your grandchildren all require muscle strength. The good news is that you can begin building it at home with nothing more than a sturdy chair and wall.

### **Begin With Four Gentle Movements**

> 🔘 Complete **8–10 slow repetitions** of each exercise. Rest when needed and repeat the routine once if you feel comfortable.

> 🔘 **Chair sit-to-stands** Sit near the front of a sturdy chair with your feet firmly on the floor. Stand slowly, then sit back down with control. Use your hands for support if needed.

> 🔘 **Wall push-ups** Place your hands against a wall, step back slightly, and bend your elbows as you bring your body toward the wall. Gently push yourself back.

> 🔘**heel raises** Hold a counter or chair, slowly rise onto your toes, then lower your heels. This strengthens your calves and ankles while supporting balance.

> 🔘 **Standing marches** Hold a stable surface and lift one knee at a time. Keep the movement slow and remain within a comfortable range.

## **Create a Simple Weekly Routine**

Start with one or two short sessions each week, leaving recovery time between them. As the exercises become easier, add a few repetitions or use a light resistance band.

Consistency matters more than heavy weights or long workouts. Your routine should feel challenging but still controlled.

### Some mild muscle soreness can happen when you begin. Stop if you experience sharp pain, dizziness, chest pain, or unusual shortness of breath. Ask your healthcare provider for guidance if you have an injury, osteoporosis, balance concerns, or another medical condition.

---

Choose one morning this week and complete a single round. You don’t have to do everything perfectly—just give your muscles a safe reason to keep working.

*Strength helps you continue doing the things you love. It’s worth a few gentle minutes each week.*
